Quilt Display / August 16, 2018 / Roesia Merle.
It wouldn`t really be a big problem if you have multiple pieces to hang on your quilt racks. You can buy quilt racks that have a tower-like effect which allows you to hang 2 or more expandable rods on top of each other by using clips or S-hooks. You can also connect several quilt racks together using a guild hub so you can arrange them in different directional patterns.
You must agree that there is something vibrant and homely about seeing quilts hanging on a wall. Using wall quilt racks this can be easily done as the online suppliers offer you all the hardware necessary in the form of clamps and you can also have some extra batting pieces to keep behind the quilt in order to thickness to the clamp. Some of the wall mounts display the quilt flat while others do so in pleated or gathered form.
These often included quilts that had been stitched by friends of the women of the departing families as keepsakes of people and places that they weren`t likely to see ever again. Along the trails quilts were used for many things besides bedding. While friendship and heirloom quilts were frequently kept in trunks or used for wrapping fine china and other delicate items everyday quilts were folded and used as cushions on the rigid wagon seats. During blinding dust storms people would hang their quilts across openings and stuff them into cracks to keep debris and dirt out of the wagons.
Depending on the size of the design wall we need to buy fabric for both the front and the back and cut it to the preferred size. The fabric used at the back can be the same that is used in front. We must keep in mind not to use too heavy a fabric. If the design wall is big enough to require seaming together the fabrics using a flannel sheet can be considered. It is a good idea to pre wash all fabric used. Polyester is not a first-rate option for a design wall since it tends to have a good deal of loft and pills. A total cotton batting is the best choice. Quilts made with cotton batts are popular all the year round. They do not hold heat and make you feel cooler during summers. At the same time they absorb and trap air and keep you warm on cold wintry nights.
